A Thousand Miles in September

An introduction to my 1000 mile September challenge.
What does one thousand miles mean to you?
It sounds big. And it is a fair distance to travel. To The Proclaimers, it was the distance they would walk to prove their undying love. Not just 500 miles—that’s a lot in itself—but 500 more. Enough to leave them collapsed in a heap at their loved-one’s door.

To a refugee fleeing Damascus, though, a thousand miles is the distance they would travel to reach Athens.
This September, I'm aiming to cycle 1000 miles in aid of the British Red Cross #milesforrefugees campaign.
